The probability of defects appearance in power equipment elements, especially in welds, arises on operation life exhausting. In most cases the defects can be removed and a technical diagnostics must be implementing in order to ensure reliable and flawless operation. Mainly this diagnostics consists of additional strength calculation and actualization of NDT extension and re-inspections intervals.

ANSYST 98 has developed a procedure for technical diagnostics, which is based on contemporary concepts of life extension like risk analysis, fitness for service and risk based inspection.
